The Index provides mortality rates (crude central rates and graduated initial rates) and period life expectancy levels across various ages, by gender, for each national population covered. Currently the LLMA publishes index values for the U.S., England & Wales, the Netherlands and Germany.
Index values are published annually, and are calculated by an independent Calculation Agent. The Calculation Agent will calculate index values from raw death and population data released by government agencies, using the methodology described in the Longevity Index Technical Document.
The index is also overseen by an international Index Advisory Committee that includes leading consultants, academics and practitioners.
Index values for a particular reference year will be published shortly after the release of the data by the relevant agencies.
